Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for your superior military leaders in action where a normal duty day turns into a catastrophe, and you military members still must lead. I am Christian the Hype Man Sledge, host of the Skiff International Podcast. Today, we are wrapping up our 2026 USO Service Member of the Year Awards. We are spotlighting Master Sergeant John Osterhouse, Colorado Army National Guard. It's a master Sergeant Osterhouse family out of Colorado. You have a guardsman to be proud of. Stance of approval, certified, battle tested, National Guard approved as the USO National Guard Service Member of the Year 2026. The National Guard needs to manage personnel, execute maintenance actions, and sustain full mission capability under live missile fire in a foreign country. No problem, Master Sergeant Osterhout calls out a Tuesday. So what makes him so special and what makes him different? Well, let me go ahead and hype that up for you. Bam! Short notice deployment. That means no months of prep, no long runway. You got the order and you freaking move. Destination, Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia. Mission sustained aircraft operational capacity. Regional missile attacks are incoming in 585 people. 585 people are looking at one Master Sergeant for direction. It's not a simulation, it's not a training exercise. This threat is live. You know my thoughts on this. Panic is easy and hesitation is fatal, but Master Sergeant Osterhout does not flinch. He builds the system, sets the standard, and keeps those 585 people locked onto the mission. 14,500 maintenance actions completed, 2,500 combat sorties supported, 29 aerial victories recorded, 671 guided munitions deployed, and the regional missile attacks in that area reduced by 87%. 87 under live missile threat. Master Sergeant Osterhout looked at every incoming threat and said, nah, not today. And the numbers proved it. He held it down in the area until it was all D1 done. This is quiet professionalism at its best. No chest beating, no hero talk, just results. That's what it looks like when you let a senior NCO get in the building. Superior leadership is not about fearlessness, it's about acting in the spite of fear. USO 2026 National Guard Service member of the year. Every word of that title is earned to every honoree we covered across all services and all our heroes, past and present. Thank you for all your services, seen and unseen, especially during these troubling times. But they don't want to hear that, they just want to dance. Hey yo NATO, put some beat on this video. And while you guys are out there dancing, let me know which 2026 honoree hit the hardest for you. What past and present hero do you want to hear about in the comments below? And a reminder to LSSCN listen to the Skip International Podcast. That's like, share, subscribe, comment, and notification activation if you want to hear more about your superior and everyday leaders in action. Hype signing off. And of course, shout out to my man NATO.
